In phone conversations with Trump, Putin would whisper conspiratorially, telling the U.S. president that it wasn’t their fault that they could not consummate the relationship that each had sought. Instead, Putin sought to reinforce Trump’s belief that he was being undermined by a secret government cabal, a bureaucratic “deep state.”
“It’s not us. We get it,” Putin would tell Trump, according to White House aides. “It’s the subordinates fighting against our friendship.” <...>
When British Prime Minister Theresa May told Trump by phone that British authorities were 95 percent sure that Moscow was responsible, Trump replied, “Maybe we should get to 98 percent.”
During a weekend retreat at his Mar-a-Lago estate, Trump’s advisers persuaded him to support a plan to expel 60 suspected Russian intelligence operatives from the United States, telling him that Washington’s move would be matched in magnitude by allies in Europe.
Trump acquiesced, but his commitment unraveled on the trip back to Washington.
“Maybe we shouldn’t do this,” he said to deputy national security adviser Ricky L. Waddell during the short helicopter flight from Andrews Air Force Base to the White House on March 25.
The expulsions were set to be announced the next day in coordination with allies in Europe — an international show of resolve — and Trump was balking. Late that evening, Waddell scrambled to pull together a Situation Room meeting to confer with other top advisers on how to salvage the plan. White House Chief of Staff John F. Kelly, who called in on a secure phone line, said that he would phone Trump at his residence. “I’ll convince him,” Kelly said.
Kelly succeeded. But when the expulsions were announced, Trump erupted. He had expected France, Germany and other countries each to match the U.S. total, rather than for the cumulative response from Europe to be roughly equal to that of the United States. Trump worried that Putin would see him as the aggressor and accused aides of misleading him.
“There were curse words,” one official said, “a lot of curse words.”

Paul spoke with Trump multiple times ahead of the senator's travel to Moscow, both in person and in the Oval Office, according to a source with knowledge of the matter.
Paul, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, had planned this Russia trip before the Trump-Putin summit in Helsinki, Finland last month, the source said. After the summit, Paul and Trump discussed the senator's planned meetings with Russian officials and the messages the president wanted Paul to convey to them.
Paul received the letter before leaving Washington and then hand-delivered it to the Russian government, the source said.

Свои комплексы вылезли не только у Трампа, но и у его партнера. Путин на пресс-конференции путался в ответах и не удержался, чтобы не приплести Билла Браудера с мифическими 400 миллионами. Свой успех в вербовке Трампа он, похоже, намерен использовать для расправы с врагами.

По данным нашего следствия, группа лиц, деловые партнёры господина Браудера незаконным образом заработали в России более полутора миллиардов долларов, не заплатили налоги ни в России, ни в Соединённых Штатах, но деньги эти в Соединённые Штаты перевели: 400 миллионов долларов направили на избирательную кампанию госпожи Клинтон. Это официальные данные, которые в их отчётах присутствуют. 400 миллионов направили. Но это их дело, возможно, они сделали это легально, но деньги получили нелегально. Мэддоу перечисляет многочисленные нарушения традиционных правил и норм, на которые пошло Министерство юстиции под давлением Трампа и его приспешников в Конгрессе в их попытках развалить расследование Рашагейта.

Ещё недавно Род Розенштейн говорил, что его министерство не собирается поддаваться на вымогательства: “I think they should understand by now that the Department of Justice is not going to be extorted. We’re going to do what’s required by the rule of law, and any kind of threats that anybody makes are not going to affect the way we do our job.” В минувшие дни он фактически уступил вымогателям во главе с Трампом, согласившись на то, чтобы расследовать расследователей Рашагейта, а также раскрыть конфиденциальную информацию.

The Justice Department agreed to show congressional Republicans “highly classified” information they have demanded from the Russia probe, the White House said after Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray met Monday with President Donald Trump.

Можно вспомнить истерику, которую устроили республиканцы в 2016 после случайной встречи в аэропорту Билла Клинтона и генпрокурора Лоретты Линч. Из-за этой злополучной встречи Линч была вынуждена взять фактический самоотвод в расследовании Хиллари Клинтон, сказав, что примет рекомендацию ФБР. Это в свою очередь побудило директора ФБР Коми выступить с публичным заявлением об окончании расследования и в нарушении норм позволить себе критиковать объект расследования несмотря на отсутствие обвинения. Сделав это публичное выступление, Коми также посчитал себя вынужденным незадолго до выборов отправить в Конгресс злополучное письмо и тем самым изменил курс истории.

Ныне происходит не случайная встреча в аэропорту с Меланией Трамп. Объект криминального расследования вызывает прокурора на ковёр и требует предоставить информацию об этом расследовании, включая раскрытие конфиденциальных источников контрразведки. Трудно это квалифицировать иначе, чем грубое вмешательство в правосудие и злоупотребление служебным положением - как для покрытия преступников, так и для предательского подрыва национальной безопасности.

Публикация произошла в результате слива из Конгресса, где записки Коми затребовали под угрозой повестки из Министерства юстиции республиканские председатели трех комиссий: Нунес, Гудлатте и Гауди.
