Одно из изменений, которые Трамп внёс в общественное мнение в США - представители адвокатской профессии из некогда презираемых людей превращаются в героев, пока страна начинает вспоминать о роли законов и законности. Один из таких героев - Ричард Пэйнтер, профессор права из Миннесоты и республиканец с многолетним стажем, который работал адвокатом по этике в последние два года администрации Буша.

Обсуждая ситуацию в Белом Доме в своём последнем интервью CNN, Пэйнтер не тратил лишних слов:

This is a completely chaotic situation, and then Gen. Flynn lied about his contacts with the Russians, lied to the vice president, and we’ve had the attorney general in testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee say he did not contact the Russians when he had contacts with the Russians. People are not being honest about their foreign contacts, and talk about this ‘deep state theory’ as if there are somehow Obama moles in the government undermining the Trump administration … I’m more worried about KGB agents running around the West Wing or the National Security Council.

В среду, 8 марта 2017, Ричард Пэйнтер был среди группы знаменитых адвокатов из общественных организаций, которые послали запрос федеральному прокурору в южном Нью-Йорке с требованием провести расследование бизнесов, принадлежащих Трампу:

Democracy 21, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) and the Campaign Legal Center request that you undertake an investigation to determine if the Trump Organization LLC, the Trump Organization, Inc., and any related Trump businesses based in the Southern District of New York are receiving payments and financial benefits from foreign governments that benefit President Donald Trump and that do not comply with Article I, Section 9, Clause 8 of the United States Constitution, the “Foreign Emoluments Clause.”

Подобное расследование необходимо в рамках судебного иска, который организация Пэйнтера (CREW - Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington) подала на Трампа на следующий день после инаугурации.

Элементарно

В непрерывном потоке новостей легко потерять ориентацию. Слава богу, у нас все ходы записаны. Время для небольшой рефлексии.

Ключевым моментом в саге о расследовании связей Трампа с Москвой следует считать середину февраля. В это время произошла вынужденная отставка Флинна, а также публикация утечек о коммуникациях между кампанией Трампа и российскими спецслужбами во время выборов:

"Phone records and intercepted calls show that members of Donald J. Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and other Trump associates had repeated contacts with senior Russian intelligence officials in the year before the election, according to four current and former American officials."

"High-level advisers close to then-presidential nominee Donald Trump were in constant communication during the campaign with Russians known to US intelligence, multiple current and former intelligence, law enforcement and administration officials tell CNN."

Кое-какая дополнительная информация с тех пор появилась. Мы узнали о контактах Кисляка, роли Килимника и Пейджа. Но это отдельные эпизоды, а речь в утечках шла о повторных или даже постоянных контактах: "repeated contacts" или "constant communication". До сих неизвестно, что именно имелось в виду и кто именно в этом был замешан.

Попробуем рассуждать логически.
